The ostrich neck ruff, with delicate matching gloves, was developed from a series of studies of the ostrich feather. The intention was to re-create the soft, downy qualities of the feathers without actually incorporating real feathers into the work. The final piece was achieved by individually creating each ‘feather’ in graduating colour combinations, then carefully knitting them together into one over-sized, voluptuous piece.
